The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) held its first Official Kenya-Turkey Joint Business Council (JBC) Meeting at the KNCCI Headquarters. The Council meeting was attended by Chamber Vice President Dr. Erick Rutto and chaired by KNCCI Patron member Eng. Kennedy Onditi and Members Prof H.K Kiplangat (Kabarak University), Wallace Atim (Wallukat Investment), James Mwaura (Holiday Cars and Tours), Caroline Ambetsa (NNN Growers), Kevin Kangugo( Sovereign Group) and Betty Korir (Credit Bank PLC)

The JBC has been endorsed by the respective Embassies as the focal point on matters pertaining trade and investments between Kenya and Turkey. The JBC is tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Encourage exports and exchange of goods and services through continuous communications, provision of information and arrangement of exhibitions in both countries.
- Communicate with the authorities in both countries to improve cooperation between the two parties and eliminate obstacles that face each of them.
- Assist in settling commercial disputes arising from trade between the two countries
- Focus on training, technology transfer and access to knowledge programs.
- Fundraising for projects
- The Council will play the key role in bridging the trade gap between Kenya and Turkey, through support and guidance in trade expansion of products currently exported into the Turkey market and also diversifying of new products.
Later the Council paid a Courtesy Call to His Excellency Ahmet Cemil Miroğlu who welcomed the formation of the Joint Business Council and stated that it will play a key role in promoting business to a new level and developing Economic Cooperation.

The Council informed the His Excellency they will major in addressing all trade issues and providing business linkages for Turkish Investors to Kenya.
The Joint Business Council will hold a virtual Joint Meeting with Turkish Council Members by April and organize an official business forum in May 2022.
