The Chamber President Mr. Richard Ngatia led a delegation to the National Assembly to meet with the New House Majority leader Hon Amos Kimuya.
During the meeting, the Chamber President highlighted key programs the chamber is currently undertaking and went ahead to explain the role of the chamber in working with the national assembly as follows:
1. Policy and public affairs advocacy,
2.Consultative programs with the committees on key legislative agenda,
3. Inclusion and representation in government statutory bodies,
4. Supporting the government on national and international trade issues ,
5. Support to the SME community with various interventions as other roles in county development.
On his part Hon Kimuya noted Mr. James Ngatia’s efforts in building the chamber brand and the potential the chamber has to support the Kenyan enterprises countrywide, he committed to partner with the chamber in key programs and collaborate on trade and investment agenda with the national assembly, and requested the chamber to be a key leader on the proposed SME Credit Guarantee Scheme program that will widen credit access to the sector as part of post COVID 19 recovery measures.
He also noted that he will discuss with the National Assembly Speaker to include chamber in key dialogue programmes.
Accompanying the Chamber President in the meeting was the Director of Economic diplomacy Mr. Kariuki Theuri, Mr. Ronald Meru of the Enterprise club, and Mr. Masinde Mwangale of the secretariat.
