Today 11th January 2022, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Nairobi County Chapter held its first Chairman’s breakfast for the year 2022 under the theme ‘Building a vibrant and prosperous Nairobi business Community’ at Heron Potico Hotel, Nairobi.

The breakfast was attended by KNCCI – Nairobi County members, including potential members interested in joining the Chamber. Nairobi Chamber Directors led by the Chairman, Mr. Julius Opio were also present.
Director Charles Gitau, Chair Finance Committee while giving his welcome remarks indicated Nairobi Chamber’s commitment to serve our members, and deliver value based services to grow businesses.
While giving his keynote speech, Mr. Opio, the Chapter Chair, noted that Nairobi Chamber was keen to achieve its vision of creating a vibrant and prosperous Nairobi County business community. “The Chapter has developed a robust calendar of events that will drive membership growth”. He said.
The Chairman presented five key activity focus areas for the calendar of events which includes sectoral dialogues and focus group forums such as Construction Industry Dialogue, and SME Financial Inclusion Dialogue. Advocacy and lobbying forums with various government agencies such as Nairobi County government, KRA, Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) among others. Business Forums such as the Chairman’s Breakfast.
The Chairman also added, that Nairobi Chamber is keen to enhance access to markets. The Chapter will aggressively drive the Made in Kenya (Mike) for the business community. In line with this the Chapter has organized for a ‘Nairobi Chamber Expo 2022’ to be held in February.
In his presentation on Chamber Membership benefits, Director Kennedy Onditi, Chairman, Membership and Business Development Committee implored potential members to join the Chamber. “Chamber is an economic diplomatic pass for businesses” he said. “With Chamber membership, members can be able to access local, regional and international markets through inbound and outbound trade delegations”
Director James Mwaura, Chair Special Programs & Resource Mobilization, took members through the relationship between personal finance planning and business success as an entrepreneur. “You need your money to work for you as an entrepreneur, hence personal financial planning is very key to succeed in business” he said.
Director Jesse Muraya, Chair Youth in Business gave his vote of thanks by appreciating all members present and welcoming those who intended to join the KNCCI-Nairobi Chapter Family.
During the event, four potential members were sponsored for free membership by Director Kennedy Onditi, and Director James Regan Mwaura.
